SUMMARY:Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City
DESCRIPTION:In Hotel Cuba\, Aaron Hamburger\, whose gift for storytelling has been recognized by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Lambda Literary Awards\, tells a story of sisterhood and the immigrant experience. Centered in a 1920s Havana filled with the lush\, sensual local sights\, sounds\, and tastes\, this novel was inspired by Hamburger’s grandmother Pearl\, an undocumented immigrant who left a sheltered life in Russia for America in 1922 and found herself trapped—and set free— in pre-Castro Cuba. \nHamburger will read from his novel and discuss the story and his work on the book\, with a signing to follow. Hotel Cuba\, published by HarperCollins\, will be available to purchase.
