SUMMARY:Write Your Story\, an Online Class via Maine Media Workshops
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is geared toward participants who are working on stories based on autobiographical material\, whether in the form of a memoir or work of fiction. Together\, we will look at examples from published work for inspiration\, try out writing exercises to hone our revision skills at both the macro and micro levels\, and then submit our writing for peer critique. During our discussions\, we will consider issues like the limits of memory\, our responsibility to our subjects who may read our work\, how to overcome our blind spots\, and the best ways to use research to flesh out our stories. After this workshop\, you will have a clearer understanding of how to use classic storytelling techniques to add structure and vivid details of character\, time\, and place to make your writing feel vital and alive.
